As you know, I was more than happy to help you out when you were going through a tough time and needed a loan to help you get by. What else is family for, if not to be there in the good times as well as when the going gets tough? Some time has gone by now, though, and I've yet to receive repayment of my loan. The total amount outstanding is <$amount>. Is there some continuing problem which prevents you from repaying me? Would you be more comfortable setting up some sort of a payment plan?
While I wish I were in a position to say that repayment of the loan wasn't necessary, I'm just not that well off and must ask that you contact me and let me know what your intentions are in terms of repayment. I appreciate your understanding of my position in this matter. I hope things are going better for you now and that we can work out a solution to this problem that will benefit us both.
